Mantras

Image
An effective sankalpa is a short, positive, and precise statement about what you wish to attain for yourself and/or for the benefit of all. Pairing and using a Sanskrit mantra with your sankalpa can create a powerful and synergetic force to propel you towards your intention with greater speed, efficiency, and ease. You could use hundreds of sacred power words with a sankalpa, but I’ve discovered four mantras that are especially potent and relevant to use for a New Year’s intention. These four mantras are broad enough in their energetic effects to apply to just about any sankalpa while still being potent and effective. Chanting your chosen mantra as you focus on and work towards your intentions is a powerful practice in itself—but understanding the lesson behind the mantra will accelerate the fulfillment of your goals. Om Gum Ganapataye Namaha Translation:  Om and salutations to Ganesha, the remover of all obstacles. May I be blessed with good luck,...

The Chakras Made Easy

Image
Chakras Made Easy by  Sonia Choquette The following is an excerpt from the "Chakras Made Easy" on-line course. If you would like to enroll in the course,  click here . The concept of chakras comes to us from the yogic literature of the Hindu and Buddhist traditions, thousands of years ago. Chakras are centers of energy found in everyone, and these centers receive, transform and distribute the universal life force throughout the body. As such, chakras play an important part in our physical, emotional and spiritual health. While the traditional chakra system is made up of seven major chakras and several hundred minor chakras, other systems identify additional chakras located above and beyond the uppermost chakra in the traditional system, known as the Crown Chakra. The system described in this course looks at the seven major chakras and their functions. HOW CHAKRAS WORK Each chakra rotates in a spiral vibration, originating outside our auric field and then flows into ...

Chakras

Image
The Chakras are seven main energy points in the body that run vertically from bottom to top along the spine. They are considered ‘wheels’ of energy that regulate the flow of energy within our body. Chakras are not visible to the human eye, because they  are  energy. However, especially here in the West, you may have seen illustrations of Chakras in the form of ‘yantras’, or geometric symbols, which represent each particular Chakra.

In addition to its yantra illustration, each Chakra is represented by many other details ranging from a specific color, Mantra Sound, Hand Mudra, Earth Element, Crystal, Essential Oil and other correlations. Our Chakras are even directly linked to a specific endocrine gland and organ within our bodies. Since they are  the  major energy locations of the body, the Chakras are directly associated with our physical, mental and emotional interactions and expressions. Therefore, one can say that all of our senses, all of our perceptions and in...

The Root Chakra

Image
Let's get down to the root of it all, and explore the powerful, grounding root chakra.  The chakras are the seven main energy centers in the  body where  we receive, absorb and distribute life energies. They are located along the spine, starting at the base and running upwards to the crown of the head. The chakras are described as “Whirling Wheels of light” and each chakra radiates a specific color and energy. Each chakra relates to specific spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical issues. Balancing these energy centers leads to our well-being. These seven chakras can become blocked through external situations and internal habits such as long-held tension in the body or staying stuck in our thoughts about things past or constant worry about the future. As a result, a chakra can become either deficient or excessive.  Therefore this chakra is imbalanced. Practicing mantras that correspond to each chakra can release these b...

How to Quiet the Mind

Image
How to Quiet the Mind by  Gina Lake The Truth About the Mind and Who You Really Are The mind is a wonderful tool for thinking, but it has a dark side. There is an aspect of the mind that is not useful but pretends to be useful, which is called the egoic mind. It is the aspect of our mind that chats with us as we move about our day. It is the "voice in our head," as Eckhart Tolle calls it. Much of the time, this voice seems like our own thoughts and our own voice, and we often express these thoughts (e.g., "I love doing that!" "I can't wait until tomorrow." "I wonder what will happen"). At other times, this voice is like the voice of a parent or other authority figure or a friend (e.g., "You should try harder." "Don't forget to take your vitamins." "Wouldn't it be fun to try that!"). It may even seem evil or mean (e.g., "You never do anything right. You're worthless. You might as well give up...
